Kickboxing

The Kickboxing class teaches both offensive and defensive striking techniques. Learn to use footwork to move into and out of kicking and punching range, or to avoid a conflict entirely. Use punching and kicking combinations to attack, or use body and head movements to evade attacks. This class offers an excellent calorie burning workout! Endurance, muscle tone, and flexibility are trained while learning functional self defense techniques. This class is done without the gi. Boxing/MMA gloves are required for all kickboxing classes.

Advanced Jiu Jitsu

The Advanced class builds upon what was learned in the Beginners class. Techniques are combined together, and strategy and tactics become more important in the application of what the student has learned. Drills, live sparring, and conditioning take-up more class time. Students have confidence in what they've learned because they've practiced it, in a safe environment, at full speed, against a resisting opponent.

Classes

Beginners Jiu Jitsu

The Beginners class teaches the fundamental techniques of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Reliable methods for dealing with common self defense situations are used to teach students the basic concepts and techniques they will use to protect themselves against a bigger, stronger attacker. Learning to defend against punches and kicks, as well as someone grabbing or choking you, will give you confidence in any violent encounter. There is very limited sparring in this class. Students are given a thorough explanation of the different positions and attacks before they are expected to use them. A gi is required for all Jiu Jitsu classes.

Women's Class

The women's class is for students of all levels, and can serve as a starting point for women who are more comfortable training in an all women environment. This class is open to both adults and teens, and ONLY female students can attend. Taught by Assistant Instructor Stacy Thompson, the curriculum is focused on helping women get the most out of their JiuJitsu training and has a strong self defense element. We want to build a community for women to help and encourage each other.

Vale Tudo - MMA

The Vale Tudo - MMA class adds takedowns, plus standing and ground grappling, to the kickboxing combinations learned in the kickboxing class. This class is done without the gi. Again, strategies are given for both offense and defense. Training in all ranges of fighting will prevent students from being put in a situation where they don't know the best way to protect themselves.

Kids Program

Our Kids Program gives your child the self-control and ability to handle life’s threatening situations, while building a strong foundation of self-confidence. This confidence will enable your child to develop a calmer and more tolerant disposition and be able to interact with peers and adults in any situation. Gracie Jiu Jitsu will help bring an emotional balance that is an important key to developing moral values like inner peace, harmony, leadership, responsibility, and courage. Each class consists of physical exercises, self defense techniques, and educational games. Our method will develop your child’s coordination, agility and flexibility in a fun and safe environment. Becoming more confident in themselves, as well as improving self-esteem and tolerance, will help each child grow into a more complete individual who is able to succeed against the challenges life presents them with. Open to ages 5 through 14.

This class focuses on using the basics techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu using a traditional gi/kimono.  Beginners will learn how to: break falls to prevent head or back injury, defend against common grips like the headlock or bear hug from behind, and immobilize an attacker on the ground until they are able to escape or help arrives.
